It feels deeply un-American to be banned from flying a kite in a national park. After all, one of our Founding Fathers, Benjamin Franklin, famously flew a kite in the name of discovery, innovation, and freedom. That simple act of curiosity helped spark the spirit of American ingenuity. To prohibit such a pastime is to turn our backs on both the joy of simple freedoms and the very history that shaped this great nation.
